Teams from across the globe came together for the thrilling launch of the 2025 FIRST Robotics Competition Season at the kick-off event. Mechanically Challenged made its way to Searcy, joining fellow teams from all over Arkansas for an exciting live-streamed introduction to this season's game challenge, REEFSCAPE.

Before the live stream, teams Breakaway 3937 from Harding Academy and Obsidian 5454 from Bentonville took the lead by hosting engaging classes on essential topics like Java programming, Vision Processing, Scouting, Branding, and Design and CAD principles.

After collecting our Kit of Parts—which included new motors, a replacement battery, various components, and season-specific items—we made a pit stop at Firehouse Subs for a strategy meeting that carried on throughout our bus ride home. Students eagerly dove into the rules, brainstormed innovative strategies, and contemplated our overarching goals for the game this year.

Upon our return to Viola, it was all hands on deck! Parents joined our efforts to construct game field elements while students and mentors collaborated on designs, unpacked boxes, and meticulously studied the extensive 160-page Game Manual to grasp the rules and discuss strategies. With just six weeks to build a robot, the excitement and urgency were palpable!

If you spot a Mechanically Challenged student or mentor during January or February, be sure to cheer them on! They're gearing up for what promises to be the most exhilarating and challenging six weeks of their lives!

Mark your calendars! Mechanically Challenged will compete at the Arkansas Regional in Search, AR from March 5-8 and the Smoky Mountain Regional in Sevierville, TN from April 2-5. Let the adventure begin!

Welcome to REEFSCAPE!
